This is an extremely simple, year round cottage, highly insulated and fenestrated correctly for passive solar gain in a cold climate. It has a central chimney, a spacious kitchen with bar, open to the dining area, a guest bedroom, laundry on the first floor, a covered porch, and an ample utility room, allowing it to be built on a slab and frost wall foundation. This home could be built as innexpensively as a small ranch home, but inside, feel like a luxurious cape.
 
Here, again the foundation would instead be underground, but this illustrates that this house only needs a frostwall. The ceiling in the living room can be an atrium with skylights, or continuous eight foot flat. Complete, color illustrated, 9 sheet, 24" x 36" construction plans including schedules of materials and a copy ready computer files originally commissioned for $2,500, are now available for $700.
